Thinkpedia... Wikipedia + Opencalais + Thinkmap ... is it true semantic intelligence ? |
The Web is not yet intelligent... But more intelligence comes to people visiting the web with opencalais and thinkmap.
- >>> Look at this mashup application of wikipedia, called THINKpedia... yes called "think"... http://thinkpedia.cs.auckland.ac.nz/
So yes... semantic + animated visualisation could be very efficient.
- - Note that the grey nodes are pure added value from opencalais analysis.
- - Note that nothing as been added to the wikipedia database, opencalais works without any specific added markup.
- - Note the graph visualisation from thinkmap is great added value:
- ... The whole is at your only one glance,
- ... Clickable refocus
It is pity that Thinkmap license costs around 5000$ and that Opencalais has not a web service with embedable copy to paste. But, if not them, others will do it... soon...

Additional informations
Thinkpedia
- Thinkpedia is a new way to navigate and explore the contents of Wikipedia. It is what we call a "Visual Wiki". Thinkpedia usesSemanticProxy in order to extract semantics out of Wikipedia articles, which are then shown in an interactive visualization which is created with Thinkmap. The visualization is displayed along with the Wikipedia article, providing a focus plus context view. The thickness of the edges in the visualized graph corresponds to the relevance of the connected items. A range slider at the bottom of the application can be used to filter the graph according to this relevance. Thinkpedia is developed by Christian Hirsch, PhD student at the University of Auckland under the supervision of John Hosking and John Grundy.
